LEAPFROG CA General Presentation
Leapfrog CA Newsletter
The Approach
In order to ensure better scientific and technical coordination in this large domain, LEAPFROG CA will group the projects and related emerging technologies in four main thematic areas, each one addressing a specific scientific and technological domain, namely:

Thematic Area 1: Concepts for and Analysis of the future Extended Smart Textile/Garment Organisations
Thematic Area 2: Virtual - Collaborative Design/Virtual Prototyping for Mass Customised products
Thematic Area 3: Quick response and new production paradigms in fabric manufacturing and preparation
Thematic Area 4: New materials and processes supporting intelligent apparel manufacturing systems

Each Area will be organised in Working Groups composed by Industrial and Scientific members to provide the necessary forum to analyze the state of the art and highlight the needs, to collect all relevant information and knowledge emerging from the on-going projects, to share common problems and solution-oriented approaches, to exchange and complement experience, to collect best practices or best solution methodologies to the sector needs and to develop an integrated Roadmap for future research. This knowledge will be organised according to a common format to allow easy integration within the knowledge portal or in Technical Editions and Strategy White Books.

The establishment of links and cooperation framework with related National and International projects
The identification of current industrial needs, problems and bottlenecks
The identification and review of all key emerging knowledge areas and related application fields
The development of a worldwide state-of-the-art survey and patents search
The analysis of a systematic basis of the results of all projects finished in the last 5 years and those on-going
The Development of an integrated model with information and guidelines for the implementation of research results and/or best practices in the industry
The Development of a future reference production and organisational model
The Identification of gaps in research and the development of an Integrated Research Roadmap for all four Thematic Areas
The Development of a Virtual cooperation platform linked to a Shared Knowledge Infrastructure (e-Database on Knowledge and research activities) to support networking of the knowledge community
The Establishment of permanent coordination structures (industrial and scientific expert groups)
The promotion of the mobility of researchers, students and industrial staff
The presentation of the results of the project through public documents and conferences

To ensure the successful completion of the activities and the validity of their results, each workpackage contains planning of the research, validation and quality assurance activities. Each workpackage is managed by a Workpackage Committee. End users are members of each Workpackage Committee and become involved in the planning validation and quality assurance activities of the workpackage. This ensures that the project remains focus on its original commercial and technical objectives.
